?How many cameras does my business need?
It depends on what you need to see, not on the size of the building. Most small storefronts and offices are well covered with four to eight cameras: entrances, register or reception, back door, and any area with cash, inventory, or liability risk. Warehouses, lots, and multi-building sites need more. The site survey answers this specifically.
?Can I view the cameras from my phone?
Yes. Every system we install includes secure remote viewing from phone, tablet, and desktop, with separate logins for owners, managers, and staff so each person sees only what they should.
?How long is footage kept?
That is a design decision. We size the recorder or cloud plan for the retention you want, commonly 30 days for general coverage and longer where insurance or policy requires it. Motion-based recording extends retention considerably.
?Cloud recording or a local recorder?
Local NVRs give you the most storage per dollar and keep working if the internet drops. Cloud recording protects footage if the recorder is stolen or damaged and simplifies multi-site viewing. ?Can you replace or reuse my existing camera system?
Often we can reuse existing cable runs if they test well, which saves labor. Old analog cameras and DVRs are usually replaced with IP cameras and a modern recorder. We test what is there during the survey and tell you what is worth keeping.
?Do the cameras work at night and outdoors?
Yes. We specify infrared or full-color low-light cameras for each location and use weather-rated housings and junction boxes outside. Night performance is tested before we hand off.
?Will the cameras slow down my network?
Not when installed correctly. Cameras get their own PoE switch and network segment, so video traffic never competes with your office computers, phones, or point of sale.
